Due to the fact I was spending more time fixing the boat or waiting for it to be fixed, I decided last season to sell her. Although Sue argued long and hard (she does not want me in Florida with her), I went ahead with it. I guess I was not asking enough because it sold to the first buyer. Because of this, I am no longer offering to accommodate my friends on the boat.
However, if you are interested, I am willing to arrange chartering a catamaran in the BVI and splitting all costs with you. I am well known at Conch Charters, the company I chartered with before buying the boat and I bought and sold the boat through them. I can usually get a boat for a fair discount for a charter. The possible dates would be January to late March. I am involved with the Heineken Regatta in St Maarten (February 24 to March 4, 2013) and the BVI Spring Regatta (March 25 – April 1) but other than that I am available.
If you are interested, let me know. If there is enough interest, I may be able to get the boat for a longer term and have one crew show up when another departs. This will reduce the cost for everyone. We can also share with other couples that you or I know.
The BVI are excellent sailing waters with winds usually from 15 – 20 knots. The sailing is exceptional and usually very comfortable in the catamaran. Snorkeling in the area is superb. There are many quiet anchorages, most with quiet ( and noisy) bars close by with fun happy hours and good restaurants.
I personally prefer a catamaran for stability and amount of room, but I am flexible.
As you can see, even a cat can move along with a bit of heeling in the great winds of the BVI. |
So leave winter behind for a short while and come on down. For those of you who have been there before, you know how much fun it can be. If you have never been there, you do not know what you are missing. Give it a try.
You can come alone, as a couple or with friends. We can get a boat that will accommodate us.
Email me if you are interested. We can start planning when you are ready.
